ShelfSprint

Fill Shelves checklist

A routine that works on paper. Print it, put it on a clipboard, and use it — there is nothing to install.

  1. Walk the floor before opening and note every gap
Catching it before customers arrive is worth more than catching it at noon.
  2. Write the bin location beside each item, not just the product name
Most of the time in a refill trip is spent finding things, not carrying them.
  3. Group the list by stockroom area, then walk it in one loop
Crossing the stockroom four times is the biggest avoidable cost in the routine.
  4. Write down how many you brought, not just a tick
A tick loses the difference between "filled it" and "brought the three that were left".
  5. Record anything you could not find, and where you looked
A product that is missing twice is an inventory problem, not a bad day.
  6. Count one bin properly each week, rotating through the fast movers
Small and frequent catches drift while it is still small enough to explain.
  7. At close, note anything that ran out entirely
A repeat shelf-out is the clearest signal that a minimum is set too low.

If steps three and four are the ones that keep slipping, that is exactly what refill runs automate — but the paper version is genuinely worth doing first.
