What runs without you

Sales reduce the shelf estimate as they happen. Refill work appears when a shelf drops below its minimum. The pull list orders itself by your stockroom sequence. Completed refills credit the shelf back. None of that needs a decision.

What deliberately does not

Shelf targets are never changed automatically. A suggestion based on sales velocity can be offered, but applying it is your call — a target that moves on its own is a target you cannot reason about when the pull list looks wrong.

Nothing writes to Shopify inventory without review. A cycle count produces a variance report first, and applying it needs an explicit approval, with a threshold above which a manager has to be the one approving.

What needs a physical count

Accuracy. A shelf estimate is arithmetic over recorded events, and reality includes breakage, theft and the unit somebody moved. The estimate carries a confidence state, decays to stale over time, and a count is what resets it to verified.

That is not a limitation to work around; it is the honest position. Any system offering shelf-level certainty without a count is offering something it cannot know.

Common questions

How often should we count?

Cycle count the fast movers and the high-value lines often, everything else rarely. The alerts flag which products have gone longest without a count, and which ones show signs of drift — more sold than the shelf was believed to hold.
