Choosing a Stocky replacement

Stocky was several products in one

Purchasing and supplier management. Stocktakes. Reorder suggestions. And the daily floor workflow. Merchants tend to have used two of those four heavily and ignored the rest — which is why “what replaces Stocky” has no single answer.

Work out which parts your staff touched weekly. If it was purchase orders, you want a purchasing tool. If it was the shelf-filling walk, you want a floor operations tool. Buying a broad suite to recover one workflow usually means paying for a lot of screens nobody opens.

What to check before you commit

Ask how any candidate models shelf stock inside a single Location, because that is where the careful and the hand-wavy separate. If the answer implies Shopify holds that figure natively, the answer is wrong.

Ask what happens when the barcode scanner does not work. POS scanner behaviour has varied between releases, and a workflow that stops without a scanner is a workflow that will strand someone mid-aisle.

Ask whether two staff can work the same list at once without both counting the same shelf. On a busy floor that is normal, not an edge case.

Do I need to replace Stocky before 31 August 2026?

You need your data exported before then. Running a replacement in parallel for a couple of weeks first is worth the overlap — it lets you compare the pull lists against what your staff would have done anyway.
